Outsource SEO in Japan – know what you hand over and what you keep

When you outsource SEO, two questions matter most: what exactly will be done, and what stays with you if the contract ends. This page lays out the work you can hand over, the assets that should stay in your name, how to pick a partner and how monthly SEO runs remotely. It also explains why UNANOBO starts with a free demo of a search-focused structure for your current site.

  • Free demo – decide after you see it
  • By message, in Japanese or English
  • One person from demo to launch

See your SEO plan as a free demo

Send us your current site address. We build a free demo with a search-focused structure and headings for your site, and you decide after you have seen it.

  • A search-focused structure for your site
  • Click through it on a computer and a phone
  • A clear scope and monthly plan for SEO

A phone number or an email address is enough – whichever suits you.

What you can hand over when you outsource SEO

"SEO services" can mean very different things from one provider to the next. Write down which tasks you want covered before you compare quotes. The usual building blocks are:

  • Audit: Search Console data, indexing, page speed and mobile display
  • Keyword plan: the words your customers really type, and which page answers each one
  • On-site fixes: titles and descriptions, heading structure, internal links, structured data, duplicate pages
  • Content: rewriting service pages, FAQs, planning and writing articles
  • Local search: for shops, clinics and schools, a well-kept Google Business Profile (MEO)
  • Tracking and reporting: GA4 and Search Console to follow inquiries and traffic and choose the next step

If you want to keep some of the hands-on work in-house, you can outsource only the audit and the plan. Our overview of SEO services explains the approach, and the SEO guide for business covers the steps you can take yourself.

What should stay in your name

The most painful outcome of outsourced SEO is ending a contract and finding nothing left. Search value builds up on your site and domain, so the core assets belong to you. Check how each of these is handled before you sign:

  • Domain and hosting: registered to you as the owner
  • Search Console and GA4: created under your Google account, with access granted to the provider
  • CMS admin rights: you can log in to WordPress, Shopify or BASE as an administrator
  • Content: articles and copy remain yours to use after the contract ends
  • Working files: keyword lists, change logs and monthly reports are shared with you

With these in place, switching providers or bringing SEO in-house keeps everything you have built. Make sure all five points are written into the contract or quote.

A checklist for choosing an SEO partner

The clearest signal is how specific the proposal is. In the first conversation or proposal, look for these points:

  • They have looked at your site and name concrete priorities
  • Each month's tasks are written down, including what is out of scope
  • Success is measured in inquiries, bookings or sales, with rankings as one input
  • They can explain how their methods follow search engine guidelines
  • You keep the same contact, or there is a clear handover process
  • Cancellation terms and what you keep afterwards are stated plainly

Be careful with promises of a guaranteed first place and with large batches of backlinks nobody can explain. Search engines decide rankings, so no one can guarantee them, and tactics against the guidelines can seriously damage a site. A partner whose explanations make sense to you is the safest choice.

What the free demo gives you

  • 01A working demoA demo site you can open and click through on a computer and a phone.

Why it is safe to ask

  • The founder handles your project from the first demo to growth after launch – one contact all the way.

How ongoing SEO runs remotely

Ongoing SEO usually spends the first one to two months on the foundation, then improves the site step by step each month. With communication by message, location makes no difference to the work.

  • Month 1: shared access to Search Console and GA4, audit, keyword plan, agreed priorities
  • Month 2: quick-impact on-site fixes such as titles, headings and internal links
  • Month 3 onward: stronger service pages, new articles and local search, following the plan
  • Every month: a short report on numbers and work done, and agreement on next month's tasks

Your part is sharing industry knowledge and the questions customers ask you, sending photos and reviewing pages before they go live. The faster this input arrives, the more useful the pages become. For realistic expectations, see how long SEO takes to show results.

Typical costs and contract types

Cost depends on scope. As a general guide in Japan, advisory SEO consulting often starts from several tens of thousands of yen a month, while full done-for-you SEO with content and on-site work typically runs from around a hundred thousand to several hundred thousand yen a month.

  • Fixed monthly fee: a set amount of work each month; easy to budget and the most common model
  • Pay-for-performance: fees tied to rankings for chosen keywords; check exactly which terms and conditions apply
  • One-off project: a single audit or round of fixes, useful when your own team will continue

When comparing offers, put the monthly tasks, the minimum term and what you keep after cancelling side by side. SEO takes months to pay off, so plan a budget you can sustain for about six months.

How UNANOBO handles outsourced SEO: a free demo first

Before you commit, UNANOBO builds a free demo of a search-focused structure based on your current site. You see which page answers which searches and how headings and paths to an inquiry are organized, on your computer and phone, and decide once you like the direction.

The process is simple: free demo, feedback, launch, growth. The founder handles every project personally, so you keep one contact from the first demo through every monthly improvement. Everything runs by message, in Japanese or English. Your domain, Search Console and GA4 stay in your name; we only ask for the access the work needs.

FAQ

What does the free demo show for SEO?

A working demo based on your current content, with a search-focused page structure, headings and paths to an inquiry. You can check it on a computer and a phone, and you get a structure proposal with it. The ongoing plan and estimate follow after you have seen the demo.

Is there any cost if I decide not to go ahead?

No. The demo is free, and it is fine to stop after seeing it. There is no follow-up pressure.

What happens to the content and data if I stop the contract?

Articles and improved pages stay on your site. Search Console and GA4 are in your name, so the data remains yours. You also receive the keyword list and change log.

What do I need to prepare?

To start, just your current site address. When ongoing work begins, we ask for access to Search Console, GA4 and your CMS admin. If tracking is not set up yet, we can set it up together.

Can SEO really work without in-person meetings?

Yes. Almost all SEO work happens on screen, so messages are enough. Pages to review are sent as links or short documents, and replies come within two business days. Japanese or English both work.

How long until SEO shows results?

It depends on your site and competition, but changes typically start to appear after three to six months. On-site fixes can sometimes register sooner. No specific ranking or traffic can be promised, and we review the numbers with you every month.
