Website redesign service in Japan – see your new site before you decide

A website redesign is a chance to fix more than the look: the message, the path to an inquiry, how easy the site is to update and how well it shows up in search. The hard part is committing budget before you can see the result. This page explains what a renewal covers, how it usually runs and where it tends to go wrong – and why UNANOBO starts by building a free demo of the new version of your current site.

  • Free demo – decide after you see it
  • By message, in Japanese or English
  • One person from demo to launch

FREE DEMO

See your redesigned site – free

Send us your current site address. We build a free demo of the new design with your own content and brand, and you decide after you have seen it.

  • A new design built from your current content
  • Click through it on a computer and a phone
  • A clear scope and plan for the renewal

A phone number or an email address is enough – whichever suits you.

What a website redesign actually covers

The part of a redesign that drives results sits underneath the visuals. Deciding the scope up front keeps quotes comparable and the project on track.

  • Structure: pages, navigation and the route to an inquiry or purchase
  • Content: service and company copy, photos, FAQs, how prices are presented
  • Design: a look that follows your logo and brand colors, with readable type
  • Technical base: mobile layout, speed, SSL, an up-to-date CMS such as WordPress
  • Growth setup: page titles and descriptions, structured data, GA4 and tags

You can choose the scope. Some sites keep their structure and only need a modern, mobile-friendly design; others are best rebuilt from the content up.

Three decisions to make before you rebuild

What you decide before production starts shapes the whole project. Agree on these three points internally and the demo and quote can be specific from day one.

  • What should visitors do? New inquiries, bookings, job applications or online sales – pick the one action you most want more of
  • Who will update the site? If you post news or products yourself, choose a CMS with an easy admin panel, such as WordPress, Shopify or BASE. If updates are rare, a simple setup is enough
  • What must stay? Your company name format, well-read articles, URLs you share with partners – list what should not change

With these settled, design preferences are easy to resolve because everyone shares the same goal. If you plan to start selling online, a renewal is also a good moment to move to Shopify or BASE. The right platform depends on who edits the site and how many products you carry, so we look at it together during the demo stage.

Not sure yet what to keep and what to change?

Signs your site is due for a renewal

If several of these sound familiar, a renewal often costs less effort over time than patching the old site.

  • On a phone the text is tiny, buttons are hard to tap or the page scrolls sideways
  • The site was last updated years ago and services or prices are out of date
  • Every small change has to go through an agency and takes weeks
  • Inquiries are rare and you cannot tell which pages bring them
  • The browser shows "Not secure" or pages load slowly
  • You hesitate to share the URL with prospects or job candidates

For a closer look, see when an outdated website needs a renewal and how to check mobile-friendliness.

How a website renewal runs and what to prepare

Typically a small site takes one to two months and a larger site three months or more. The steps look like this:

  • Audit: list current pages, the most visited ones and where inquiries come from
  • Goals: more inquiries, recruiting, online sales – set the priority
  • Structure and copy: decide which pages stay, merge or are new; gather text and photos
  • Design and build: settle the direction on the home page, then roll it out
  • Pre-launch checks: mobile view, forms, URL redirects, tracking tags
  • After launch: adjust copy and paths based on visits and inquiries

It helps to have ready: your logo files, photos you want to use, domain and hosting details, admin logins and two or three sites you like. Keep the domain and analytics accounts in your own name so you stay in control whoever builds the site.

Common mistakes in a website redesign

"We get fewer inquiries since the redesign" is a common story, and most causes are preventable before launch.

  • URLs change without 301 redirects, so rankings and bookmarks break
  • Well-read explanation pages get cut to make the design cleaner
  • Copy and photos arrive late and the launch slips by months
  • Tracking tags are forgotten, so before and after cannot be compared
  • Nobody shares a picture of the finished site, so big changes surface at the end

Our guide to SEO during a site renewal covers how to protect search traffic, and website renewal cost explains how budgets are usually built. The last point – a shared picture of the result – is exactly what the free demo solves.

How UNANOBO handles a renewal: a free demo of your new site

Before you commit to anything, UNANOBO builds a free demo: a new version of your current site, based on your existing content and brand. You open it on your computer and phone, click through it, and decide whether to go ahead once you like the direction.

The process is simple: free demo, feedback, launch, growth. The founder handles every project personally, so you keep one contact from the first demo to improvements after launch. Everything runs by message, in Japanese or English. If your site is mainly a company profile, see also corporate website renewal.

FAQ

What does the free demo include?

A working new design, centered on the home page, built from your current content, logo and colors. You can check it on mobile too. You decide whether to continue after seeing it.

Can I keep my domain and email addresses?

Yes. A renewal normally keeps the same domain. DNS changes are reviewed in advance so email keeps working, and the domain stays registered in your name.

Will a redesign hurt my search rankings?

With proper redirects and the content of your strongest pages carried over, a big drop is usually avoidable. Rankings are decided by search engines, so no specific position can be promised. After launch we watch Search Console and adjust.

Will my current site stay online during the renewal?

Yes. The new site is built and reviewed in a separate environment and switched over only when it is ready, so your current site stays live the whole time. The switch happens at a quiet hour, and forms and pages are checked right after.

Can we start without finished copy or photos?

Yes. We can begin by reorganizing the text you already have, and use placeholder images to settle the layout while photos are prepared. You get a clear list of needed materials early on.

Can you handle updates and marketing after launch?

Yes. Updates, maintenance, SEO, MEO and Google Ads run through the same single contact. If you prefer to edit the site yourself, you get guidance on the admin panel by message.
