Improve your ecommerce product pages – see the better version first

Visitors arrive, look around and leave without adding anything to the cart. Most of the time the product page simply does not give them enough to decide. This page walks through how to improve ecommerce product pages: what to check, how to handle images, copy, reviews, FAQs and structured data, and how to update a large catalog in bulk. UNANOBO starts by building a free demo of an improved page from your own store.

  • Free demo – decide after you see it
  • By message, in Japanese or English
  • One person from demo to launch

FREE DEMO

See a better product page – free

Send your store URL and the product you care about most. We build a free demo with reworked images, copy and FAQs, and you decide after seeing it.

  • An improved page for one best seller
  • Check it on your phone as shoppers will
  • A plan to roll it out across the catalog

A phone number or an email address is enough – whichever suits you.

Signs your product pages need work

The product page is where the buying decision happens. If several of these apply, improving the page will usually pay off sooner than spending more on traffic.

  • Plenty of product page views, very few add-to-carts
  • The same questions about size, material or delivery keep arriving by email or DM
  • Only one or two images, and on a phone you cannot see details or scale
  • The description is copied from the maker's sheet or is just a spec list
  • Returns often say "not what I expected" or "wrong size"
  • Product titles and descriptions in search results are cut off or off-message

GA4 shows where people drop off when you put product views next to add-to-cart events. For the bigger picture, see how to grow ecommerce sales, and if traffic is fine but orders are not, why a Shopify store is not selling.

Five elements every converting product page needs

Online, shoppers cannot pick the product up. A strong product page replaces that moment in the store. Check these five elements in order.

  • Images: the whole product, close-ups, use scenes, scale and packaging
  • Title and price area: a clear product name, tax-inclusive price, shipping cost and delivery estimate in plain view
  • Description: who it is for, why to choose it, how to use and care for it
  • Reviews: real buyer feedback, ideally with photos
  • FAQ and terms: exchanges, returns, delivery times, gift wrapping – the points people hesitate over

On mobile, the first screen should show the image, name, price and cart button. If shoppers have to scroll to find the price, many will leave before they do.

How many of the five does your page have?

Send your store URL and we will build a free demo of the page with the gaps filled.

Product images and copy that answer questions

Six to ten images per product is a good working target, each with its own job:

  • Image 1: the full product on a plain or white background
  • Images 2–4: texture, stitching, logo and other details
  • Images 5–6: the product in use, worn or in place
  • Image 7 and on: scale next to a hand or everyday object, color options, what is in the box

Keep one aspect ratio, use a resolution that stays sharp when zoomed on a phone, and compress files so pages stay fast. File names and alt text with the product name and key features also help with Google Images – see our image SEO basics.

For the copy, answer three questions in order: who is it for, when will they use it, and why this product. That reads far better than a list of specs. In Japan, cosmetics and supplements must follow the Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Act, and price or performance claims fall under the Act against Unjustifiable Premiums and Misleading Representations. Guidance gets revised, so wording is checked against the current rules.

Demo sites we built

Template demos with fictional brands. Yours is built with your own brand and content.

Reviews, FAQs and structured data

Once the page shows why the product is worth buying, it needs to answer the quiet question: is it safe to buy?

  • Reviews: ask for one in a follow-up email after delivery and show photo reviews first. On Shopify a review app handles this
  • FAQ: pick the five to eight questions you get most and answer them on the page
  • Structured data: describe name, price, availability and rating with Product markup so search results show the right details

If you reward customers for reviews, Japan's stealth marketing rules under the Premiums and Representations Act, in force since 2023, mean that reward should be disclosed clearly. Many Shopify themes output basic Product markup already; run Google's Rich Results Test to confirm ratings and stock are actually included.

Shopify product setup and bulk updates

Fixing pages one by one is slow. Cleaning up the product data in bulk is faster and keeps quality consistent. Shopify and WooCommerce support CSV import and export for products, and BASE has an official CSV feature too.

  • Naming rule: brand, product type, key feature, then color or size, always in the same order
  • Variants: group colors and sizes as variants of one product
  • Tags and collections: one consistent system so shoppers can filter by use or material
  • SEO fields: no product left with an empty page title or meta description
  • Image order: the same style of first image across the catalog

Export and back up your current product data before you start. If URLs (handles) change, set redirects from the old ones. With hundreds of products, start with your top 10–20 sellers, check the effect, then roll out to the rest.

How UNANOBO improves product pages: a free demo first

Before you commit, UNANOBO builds a free demo of an improved product page based on your current store: image order, description flow, and where reviews and FAQs sit. You open it on a computer and a phone and decide whether to go ahead.

If you like it, the work continues with copy rewrites, image ordering and optimization, structured data and bulk CSV registration or updates – on Shopify, BASE or WordPress with WooCommerce. The founder handles every project personally, from the first demo to improvements after launch, and everything runs by message in Japanese or English.

FAQ

What will I see in the free demo?

We take one of your best sellers and build a working, improved version of its product page – images, copy, reviews and FAQ placement. You can check it on mobile as it is. There is no charge.

What if I decide not to go ahead?

That is fine. There is no cost if you stop after the demo, and the improvements you spot in it are yours to use on your own.

We have a large catalog. Can you handle all of it?

Yes. With bulk CSV updates, catalogs of several hundred products are manageable. We agree naming and image rules first and work from best sellers down. Timing depends on product count and how ready your materials are, so you get a plan and estimate after the demo.

Can you shoot the product photos?

Photography is done by you or by a photographer in Japan. We prepare the shot list, select from the photos you have, optimize size and compression, and plan the image order. We can also send phone photography tips by message.

What do I need to prepare?

Your store URL, plus the product you most want to improve, is enough to start. Once the project begins, we ask for collaborator access to your admin, a product CSV and your photos. Accounts stay in your name throughout.

Can we really do this without meeting?

Yes, everything runs by message. You point out changes on the demo with a note or a screenshot. Replies come within two business days, in Japanese or English.
