Shopify maintenance and management service – updates, apps, SEO and ads every month
Shopify takes care of servers and security, but the day-to-day running of your store is still on you. Theme updates slip, apps pile up, product pages go stale and SEO and ads never get the attention they need. This page explains what a Shopify maintenance and management service covers, what a monthly routine looks like and how to pick a partner – and why UNANOBO starts with a free demo of your improved store.
- Free demo – decide after you see it
- By message, in Japanese or English
- One person from demo to launch

What a Shopify maintenance and management service covers
Shopify itself hosts the platform and keeps it secure, so ongoing support focuses on what sits inside your store: the theme, apps, pages and the marketing that brings people in.
- Maintenance: checking theme updates, fixing layout bugs, spotting app conflicts
- Updates: adding products, changing prices, swapping banners, building campaign and news pages
- App management: removing unused apps, reviewing monthly fees, cleaning up code left behind after uninstalling
- SEO: titles and descriptions for products and collections, image alt text, internal links
- Ads and tracking: Google Ads, Google Shopping and Meta Ads, plus GA4 and tag setup
Every store splits the work differently between in-house staff and an outside partner. If you are thinking about outsourcing order handling, shipping and customer service as well, see e-commerce operation outsourcing.
Signs your store needs better support
A Shopify store needs a little care from the day it launches. If several of these sound familiar, it is time to put regular maintenance in place.
- Your theme has not been updated in a long time and newer sections are missing
- The app list keeps growing, and so do the monthly bill and the page load time
- You removed an app, yet odd elements or broken layouts remain
- Sale and new-product pages are always finished at the last minute
- You run ads but cannot tell which ones actually lead to sales
- Your build agency's contract ended and nobody is there when something breaks
Customized themes deserve special attention. Moving to a new theme version means carrying your custom changes across, and the longer you wait, the bigger that gap becomes. A regular check keeps it manageable.

A monthly Shopify routine
Splitting the work into weekly, monthly and seasonal tasks keeps things from slipping through. Use this as a baseline whether you outsource or run the store yourself.
- Weekly: test the checkout flow, payment and shipping settings, out-of-stock displays and contact forms
- Monthly: review theme and app updates and app costs, report on best sellers and search traffic, rebalance ad budgets
- Seasonally: build sale and launch pages and banners, update shipping fees and delivery notices
- As needed: review policy pages such as the legal notice required under Japan's Specified Commercial Transactions Act and your privacy policy
A report is only useful when it turns into next month's tasks – which collection copy to rewrite, which ad to pause. Policy pages follow changes in law and in your own services, so they are updated against current official guidance.

How to choose a partner and what to prepare
Whoever maintains your store becomes a long-term partner. Look past the price list and check these points:
- Clear scope: you know what the monthly fee includes and what costs extra
- Response times: there is an agreed window for replies when something breaks
- Account ownership: Shopify, the domain, ad accounts and GA4 stay in your name
- One fixed contact: you do not have to re-explain your store every time
- Proactive ideas: they suggest what to do next along with each report
To get started quickly, have ready your store URL, your theme name and app list, a short note of current problems, and access to your ad and GA4 accounts. Never share your password – give access through a Shopify staff or collaborator account with only the permissions needed. For maintenance basics that apply beyond Shopify, see e-commerce site maintenance.

The process is simple: free demo, feedback, launch, growth. The founder personally handles everything from theme maintenance and page updates to SEO, Google Ads and Meta Ads, so you keep one contact throughout. FAQ
What does the free demo include?
A working version of your store's key pages, such as the home and product pages, improved using your own products and brand. You also get a short list of the maintenance tasks we would prioritize. It costs nothing.
What if I decide not to go ahead after the demo?
That is completely fine. There is no cost and no obligation, and nothing in your store settings is touched.
Do I need to share my Shopify password?
No. Once you decide to proceed, you grant access through a Shopify collaborator account with only the permissions needed. You can remove that access from your store at any time.
You are not based in Japan – can you handle urgent issues?
Everything runs by message, and you normally get a reply within two business days. Shopify work is done fully online, so location makes little difference. For busy periods such as big sales, sharing your schedule in advance keeps things smooth.
Can you work with my current theme and apps?
Yes. We review your theme and apps and give you a list of what to keep, what to clean up and what needs updating. There is no need to change everything at once – we start with the highest-priority tasks.
Can I hand over only SEO or ads?
Yes. Some stores keep maintenance in-house and outsource only marketing. Ad accounts and GA4 always stay in your name.
