Home builder website design in Japan – a works gallery and event bookings, starting with a free demo
For a local home builder (工務店), the website is where a family decides whether to book a visit or move on. A gallery that is hard to browse, an open-house date buried in the news, or a long inquiry form can quietly cost you bookings. This page covers how to structure a builder website, how to present your works and events, what it typically costs – and how UNANOBO starts with a free demo built around your homes.
- Free demo – decide after you see it
- By message, in Japanese or English
- One person from demo to launch

Five jobs a home builder website has to do
Families planning a custom home compare several builders on their phones long before they visit a showroom. Good home builder website design starts by deciding how one site handles these five jobs.
- Works gallery: real homes you have built, with photos, floor plans, size and the details that matter
- Your approach: performance, materials, design style and service area – the reasons to choose you
- Events: completed-home tours, structure tours and model-house visits, with dates and booking
- Ways to reach you: visit booking, brochure requests, online consultation and phone, for each stage of the decision
- People: the owner, carpenters and designers, plus a recruiting page
These do not all need equal weight. Depending on how many homes you build a year and how wide your area is, lead with your strongest point – for example, works and events first, or a deeper explanation of insulation and earthquake resistance.
What a builder site needs to turn visits into inquiries
Builder sites that get traffic but few inquiries tend to share the same gaps. Check your current site against this list.
- On a phone, the first screen shows what kind of homes you build
- Works are listed newest first and can be filtered by style or type
- The next open-house date is easy to find from the home page
- Booking and brochure forms are short and take a minute or two on a phone
- Service area, how you think about price per tsubo and standard specs are explained
- News or blog posts have been updated within the last few months
When many of these are missing, rebuilding the page structure and paths is usually where the biggest gains are. To look at channels beyond the website, see marketing for home builders.
Send us your URL and we will show you a structure that leads to bookings and brochure requests in a free demo.
Building a works gallery that sells
The works gallery is the most-viewed part of a builder website. Add the information that lets a family picture their own life in the house, and each project becomes a reason to get in touch.
- One page per home: 10–20 photos of the exterior, living area, kitchen, bath and storage, in the order you walk through
- Key facts: floor area, layout, family size, location, construction method and insulation level
- Owner comments: why they chose you and what they cared about – always with their permission
- Filters: tags such as single-story, two-generation, natural or modern
- Next step: end each project with a link to a similar open house or a brochure request
Photograph homes on a clear day before handover, and again with furniture in if the owners agree. Set up fixed fields in a CMS such as WordPress so your staff can add new projects themselves – that keeps the gallery growing. If you also do renovations, websites for renovation companies covers before-and-after presentation.

Event pages and booking paths for model-house visits
Open houses and model-house visits are the step closest to a contract. Give every event its own page and send ads and social posts straight to it, so the path to a booking stays short.
- Event page: date, place, highlights, parking, how long the visit takes and any booking gift, all on one page
- Booking form: preferred time, number of people and contact details only, with an automatic confirmation email
- Always-visible buttons: fixed "Book a visit" and "Request a brochure" buttons at the bottom of the phone screen
- Tracking: record completed bookings in GA4 to see which pages and ads bring them
- After the event: move the finished home into the works gallery so the page keeps working
Builders usually combine Google Business Profile (MEO), Google Ads and Meta Ads to fill events. With a solid event page in place, you can test ads on a small budget first. If many of your leads start with land or lot searches, real estate website design is a useful reference.
Send the details of your next open house and some photos, and we will build a free demo including the booking page.
Typical costs and how to choose a web agency
In Japan, the cost of a builder website depends on the number of pages, how many projects are loaded, and whether photography and copywriting are included. As a general guide, a small template-based site is typically several hundred thousand yen, while a custom design with built-out works and event features often runs from about 1 to 3 million yen, plus monthly hosting and maintenance.
When comparing agencies, check these points along with the price.
- Can your staff add and edit projects and events in the admin panel?
- Will the domain, GA4 and ad accounts be in your company's name?
- How much of the post-launch updating and marketing does the same contact handle?
- How much of the finished site can you see before signing?
For smaller builders, subsidies such as the 小規模事業者持続化補助金 can sometimes cover website work. Eligible costs, caps and subsidy rates change with each application round, so always check the latest official 公募要領.

FAQ
Is the demo really free?
Yes. Building the demo costs nothing. It shows your home page and how your works and events would be presented, using your photos and logo. If you decide not to continue after seeing it, there is no charge.
We only have a few project photos. Is that enough?
Yes. A handful of homes, each shown carefully with good photos and a short story, is enough to show what you build. Where photos are missing, placeholder images let us settle the layout first, and new projects are added as they are photographed.
How long does it take?
Launch typically takes one to two months, depending on the number of pages, projects and how ready the copy is. If an open house is coming up, its page can go live first.
You are not based in Japan. How do meetings work?
Everything runs by message, in Japanese or English. You get a link to the demo, check it on your phone or computer when it suits you, and send back your comments. Every inquiry gets a reply within two business days.
Can our staff update projects and events ourselves?
Yes. We set up an admin panel such as WordPress with fixed fields for projects and events, so adding a new one is straightforward. You get guidance by message, which makes it easy to keep the site updated even for staff who rarely use a computer.
Can you help with marketing after launch?
Yes. SEO, MEO, Google Ads, Meta Ads and GA4 setup all run through the same contact. Ad and analytics accounts stay in your company's name, so you can always see the results yourself.
