Website design service in Japan – see a free demo before you commit
Planning a new website raises the same questions every time: what should it say, what will it cost, and will the finished site match what you had in mind? This page walks through the types of sites you can build, what makes a site bring in inquiries, the usual timeline and budget, and what to prepare. It also explains why UNANOBO, a remote bilingual studio, builds a free demo of your site before you decide anything.
- Free demo – decide after you see it
- By message, in Japanese or English

What a website design service in Japan can build for you
The pages and features you need depend on what the site is for. Start by picking the type closest to your business – it makes the work and the budget much easier to estimate. These are the main types of site UNANOBO builds:
- Corporate sites: company profile, services, news and an inquiry form
- Shop, salon and clinic sites: menus and prices, access, booking paths and Google Maps
- Online stores: Shopify, BASE or WordPress with WooCommerce – products, payments and shipping
- Landing pages: one product or service, one page, one clear path to sign-up
- Recruiting pages: the job, the workplace and an application form
Whatever the type, mobile layout, SSL, search-friendly titles and descriptions, and GA4 tracking are built in from day one. Adding them after launch usually means rework, so it pays to include them in the build.
What makes a website bring in inquiries
A good-looking site still underperforms if visitors cannot see what to do next. These basics decide most of the result. Use them to compare your current site, or sites you like:
- Within seconds of landing, a visitor knows who you serve and what you offer
- It reads well on a phone, and call, booking or inquiry buttons are easy to find
- It answers the usual doubts up front: pricing approach, service area, FAQs
- Photos and copy match your brand and feel trustworthy
- Pages load fast and forms ask only for what you really need
- You can see which pages lead to inquiries
You can build up to this step by step. Pick the one action you most want more of, fix that path first, and you can measure the effect even on a modest budget.
Tell us the one action you want more of, and we will build it into a free demo site.
How website production runs and how long it takes
Typically a small site of five to ten pages takes one to two months; online stores and larger sites take two to three months or more. The steps look like this:
- Brief: goals, audience, competitors, reference sites, who will update the site
- Structure: the pages, the menu and what each page says
- Design: settle the direction on the home page, then roll it out
- Copy and photos: finalize text and images, with placeholders where needed
- Build and test: desktop and mobile views, forms, tracking tags
- Launch and improve: connect the domain, go live, adjust based on visits
Copy and photos are the usual cause of delays. Our guide to the website production process covers what is decided and checked at each step.

Typical costs and what to prepare before you ask for a quote
Cost depends on the number of pages, how custom the design is, features such as booking or online sales, and whether copywriting is included. As a general guide in Japan, a small template-based site typically costs a few hundred thousand yen, a custom corporate site around 500,000 to 1,500,000 yen, and feature-rich sites or online stores often more. See website cost for how quotes are usually broken down.
Having these ready makes quotes more accurate and the build faster:
- Your logo files (AI or SVG if you have them, otherwise a high-resolution image)
- Photos you want to use: your space, people, products or past work
- Your services and prices, plus basic company or shop details
- Domain and hosting details, if you already have them
- Two or three sites you like, and what you like about them
Keep your domain, Google account, ad accounts and analytics in your own name. Whoever builds or runs the site later, your website and marketing assets stay with you.
With your logo and a short service description, we can build the free demo even without final copy or photos.
What to check when choosing who builds your site
You can hire an agency, work with a freelancer or build it yourself with a site builder. Whichever you choose, check these points before signing to avoid surprises after launch:
- What the quote includes: copy, photos, mobile layout, fixes after launch
- Whether you can update the site yourself, and who handles changes if you cannot
- Whether you hold the domain and admin logins
- Whether they can also help with SEO, MEO and ads after launch
- How concretely you can see the finished design before you sign

FAQ
Is the demo really free?
Yes, building the demo costs nothing. After you have seen it, you receive a structure proposal, a plan and an estimate. The project only starts if you are happy with them.
What if I see the demo and decide not to go ahead?
That is completely fine. There is no charge at any point. You are welcome to use the demo to compare with other options.
What do I need to send for a demo?
Your company or shop name, a short description of your services and your logo if you have one. A link to your current site or social accounts helps us capture your style. Missing photos or copy can be filled with placeholders.
How long until the site is live?
It depends on the number of pages and how ready your materials are, but a small site typically takes one to two months. Online stores and feature-rich sites take longer. The plan you receive after the demo includes a concrete schedule.
You work remotely – how does communication work?
Everything runs by message, in Japanese or English. We reply within two business days and send screen links for anything you need to review. Because it is all in writing, there is a clear record of every decision.
Can I update the site myself after launch?
Yes. We pick an admin panel that suits whoever will edit the site – WordPress, Shopify or BASE – and guide you through it by message. You can also leave updates and maintenance to us.
